Careers

People who reside in Nova Scotia are well acquainted with the benefits of living here. Not only is this province filled with natural beauty with its rocky coastlines, parks and quaint communities, but it has a lot to offer in the way of cultural activities.
Nova Scotia doesn’t have the flair of Vegas or Toronto, but we have something better….simplicity. It is the unassuming qualities of its surroundings and its people that make Nova Scotia such a wonderful place to live, work and play.
Nova Scotia offers a lifestyle where we don’t live to work, but work to live. Our province offers a variety of events and experiences to satisfy your cultural needs from symphonies to down-home maritime music, museums and theatre. If outdoor experiences are what you seek, you don’t have to go far to find a challenging hiking trail or a campsite with a view that takes your breath away. To please your pallet, Nova Scotia provides culinary gifts from the sea as well as multi-cultural dining experiences.
Every season has its own unique activities. In the summer, you can hang out on the Halifax water front, pick blueberries in the Annapolis Valley, go whale watching in Yarmouth, hike, surf and swim. The fall wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the
Valley to go apple picking, get lost in a corn maze or explore the many quaint shops and farmer’s markets that offer locally grown produce and charming gifts. The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton is also a must see in October for the spectacular views of the turning leaves and to visit the many artisans along the Trail. Nothing slows down in the winter season with skiing, skating, sledding and cozy get-aways.
Not only does Nova Scotia offer wonderful lifestyle opportunities, our province also boasts affordable housing and short commutes.
If you live here or want to live here, please watch for upcoming opportunities with HITS-NS. We want to meet you.
How Do I Apply for a Job?
- HITS-NS is hosted through the IWK Health Centre.
The IWK uses E-Recruit, Career Beacon’s online job application system, for both internal and external job postings.
- All applicants are required to set up a Career Beacon account. Within this account, applicants are able to store and update resumes and cover letters. Once an account is created, applicants can apply for job opportunities online by selecting the “Apply Online Now” button on the posting.
- To view current IWK/HITS-NS vacancies, click here. Postings that are available only to internal applicants will be identified as “Internal Only” within the job title of the posting.
- It is the responsibility of an IWK employee to self identify as an internal applicant. To assist with this, E-Recruit will ask each applicant if they are a current IWK employee.
Please note that only electronic resumes are accepted by the IWK through Career Beacon.
