What is an EMR?
Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) contain digitized patient information recorded in clinics or doctor’s offices, along with information sent to the EMR such as lab and imaging reports and hospital and consultation notes. In addition, EMRs provide services such as reminder alerts to aid in patient care, especially for those with chronic conditions. EMRs are one of the key building blocks of the electronic health record (EHR) and will be the tool clinicians use on a daily basis to care for their patients.
